I took a deep breath closed my eyes and began to sing the simplest song I knew. I prayed I wouldn’t forget any of the words, and that I wouldn’t get flat.
I managed to finish without messing up the words, I think I stayed on key and most importantly I didn’t pass out. I kept my eyes closed the entire time, therefore, I didn’t know if he was pleased or not. If he thought I was awful, I would only know when I opened my eyes.
By the time I opened my eyes and lifted my head, he was up from his seat, at my side, and whispered, “now was that so hard? You did great,” he said as his fingers slightly graced my chin.
